Gamification
Gamification research is still in its budding stages of research at this time. Because of this, it is important to continually do research, especially as the results of research may often surprise you. For example, the research I critiqued in the document to the right claims that gamification has many benefits, but all the studies were riddled with threats to internal validity. This could pose a problem when attempting to gain grant money for gamification in the classroom. That being said, teachers can improve on those limitations and perform new research in order to find answers to these questions and get to the bottom of whether programs like Blooket, DuoLingo, and more are necessary for the language classroom. It was edifying to listen to many of my colleagues present on gamification research, as many of them found similar research to back up gamification's credibility in the language classroom.
